Roundup: NVIDIA GRID Comes To India; SanDisk Launches 256GB Extreme Pro CF; Nokia Lumia 1020 Arrives in India


NVIDIA’s Co-Founder, President and CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang has announced the launch of its grid computing technology, NVIDIA GRID in India, at a recently held function in Bangalore.

Enterprise IT bigwigs like IBM, Dell, Cisco and HP have partnered with NVIDIA to deploy its grid  computing technology through their virtualisation solutions. Users will be able to access NVIDIA GRID through enterprise virtualisation software from VMware, Citrix and Microsoft.

Once implemented, the technology will allow GPU centric applications like Maya, Photoshop and many others used by digital media, design and engineering industry to run virtually on desktops and other portable devices connected to the Internet, without any performance and compatibility constraints.

SanDisk Launches Extreme Pro 256GB CF Card With Transfer Speed Upto 160 MB/s

Flash memory storage company SanDisk Corporation launched the 256GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash memory card, aimed at professional users in India. Along with the launch the company also announced that it will be offering faster speeds across all other capacities of the SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash memory card lineup.

sandiskThe 256GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash card will offer a transfer speeds of up to 160MB/s.

The other SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash cards lineup will now feature read speeds of up to 160MB/s and write speeds of up to 150MB/s. SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash pricing ranges from Rs 9,500 to Rs 1,19,500.


lumia 1020Nokia’s 41 MegaPixel Lumia 1020 Launched In India

Nokia today launched its new addition to its Lumia family, the Nokia Lumia 1020,in India. The Windows Phone 8 smartphone will feature the second generation 41 megapixel sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS).

The camera comes with a new application called Nokia Pro Camera. Some of the other features include a dual capture feature, which simultaneously takes a high resolution 38 megapixel image and a 5 megapixel picture that is easy to share to social networks. The device also incorporates Nokia Rich Recording, which  can handle sound pressure levels six times louder than conventional smartphone microphones.

Indian buyers will also get an App Voucher worth Rs 1000 and Vodafone users will be offered 2GB of 3G data usage per month for 2 months, at no extra cost.

Along with the smartphone the company also launched the Nokia Camera Grip. The smartphone will will available to customers in India starting October 11, 2013. Nokia will offer the device in  yellow, white and black colours.
