Microsoft which released Office Mobile for Android phones at the beginning of the month, has now announced the availability of the app in India and also 14 other countries in the APAC region today. This bring the total number of countries that the app is available in to 116 markets. It is also available in 33 languages. Currently, there are no Indian languages on it.
When the app was first announced it was available only in the US, so it is good to see it expand to so many new countries within the first month itself.
While the app itself is free to download from Google Play, only Office 365 subscribers would be able to use the app. The app allows users to access, view, edit and share Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents from their smartphones.
Mobile Office is free for all Windows Phone users, while iPhone users, which saw the app being released in mid-June also require an Office 365 subscription.
There are different versions of Office 365. Office 365 Home Premium pricing starts from Rs 420 a month or Rs 4,199 a year. This includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher and Access for installation on five PCs or Macs. The package also includes free 20GB storage on Microsoft’s Skydrive. For SMBs, Office 365 has been priced ranging from $6/user/month up to $ 20/user/month. Office Professional 2013 costs Rs 26,999 a year.
