Google launched custom voice actions on Android back in April that would allow users to control third-party applications by saying “Ok Google” followed by a command.
This Google Now functionality made it immensely easy to use SMS and and Hangouts on an Android device, since a user could control and dictate a message with only their voice.
Now, Google has announced that it has expanded the functionality to messaging apps WhatsApp, WeChat, NextPlus, Telegram, and Viber.
Motorola included support for a few third party apps with Moto Voice back with last year’s Moto X and this works similarly and on pretty much every Android device.
It’s as simple as saying “Ok Google, send a WhatsApp message to John” followed by the actual message you want to send.
