Just last week news of OnePlus seeking to raise funding from Silicon Valley VCs broke, showing the company’s desire of growing up and getting into the big leagues.
Now, celebrating its one year anniversary on April 23, the company has announced that the OnePlus One will be available for purchase without an invite (even in India) forever.
The move not only shows the company’s willingness to grow, but also the increase in scale at which OnePlus now operates.
“We now feel confident that we have matured enough to handle the increased complexity that comes along with opening up sales completely,” said the company in a blog post.
The free sale offer however will be available only on the One, which ultimately is now a year old. The OnePlus 2, which will break cover soon will still be sold via the invite only model.
OnePlus will launch two smartphones this year, the flagship OnePlus 2 and another devices that will cater to the lower rungs of the mid range smartphone market.
