Xelf – Online Book Rental Service from Kolkata

Kolkata has been in tech news for the wrong reasons recently; apparently a call-center based virus-phone scam was unfolded by international police over there. But then not everything is bad when it comes to tech scenario emanating out of the Bong city. At least from online startup point of view. Xelf – an online local rental store for books is giving an easy access to a large selection of books to the bookworms.

The website has been done very neatly, and offers door-delivery service of your favorite titles on cash-on-delivery payment terms. What I personally liked about their business model is of letting users sign up and queue the books one wants to read in a given period. And Xelf will deliver the books at intervals of five days depending on how voraciously you devour the books.

Readers can signup for the service for monthly rentals starting from Rs. Zero for upto 02 books (One time trial) to Rs. 3,300 a year for unlimited number of books. There is also one-time registration and refundable security deposit of Rs. 600 which seems like a little spoilsport there, but certainly not a deterrent to the bookworms.

So Pi readers, have a look. What do you think about Xelf service?
