Mobile recharge company Paytm, has shared some interesting data with us. According to the transactions that took place on their site, 3G started picking up in the country somewhere around mid-2013.
Mobile users from Delhi used Paytm the most, followed by Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Considering that Paytm has a significant market share in the mobile recharge space, it gives you a good picture of which city is transacting online the most.
Interestingly, Paytm has more iPhone users than any other single handset. However, overall, Samsung users top the chart.
Prepaid consumers used Paytm to recharge Airtel mobiles the most followed by Vodafone and Idea. Note that Airtel is India’s largest telecom operator by number of users.
Delhi & NCR had most number of postpaid and prepaid users. Interestingly, Mumbai seems to have more postpaid users compared to prepaid.
Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai had the highest number of recharges using apps.
Samsung was the top smartphone maker followed by Apple, Nokia and Micromax. Note that this isn’t representative of their actual market share.
