Opera Software has partnered with 7 Indian mobile phone companies to bundle its browser on their Android devices. The browser company, threatened by Chinese browser maker UCWeb and new entrants, said that Micromax, Videocon, Spice, MoMagic Technologies, Wynncom, Lemon Mobiles and iBall will pre-install the Opera Mini browser as an exclusive third party mobile browser on their upcoming Android phones.
Opera has also partnered with Symphony Mobile in Bangladesh and Colors Mobile in Nepal. Since the beginning of this year, more than 100 Android devices with Opera Mini pre-installed on them have been launched in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Android is the 2nd largest platform used by Opera Mini users in India. According to statistics released by the company, Opera Mini users on Android increased by 228% in India, constituting 21% of the total number of Opera Mini users. Of all the Indian OEMs selling Android phones, Micromax is the most popular with 13% Opera Mini users on Android.
The Indian smartphone market has almost tripled its shipment year over year in the second quarter of 2013 with nearly 9.3 million shipped in Q2 of 2013, according to IDC. Micromax with 22% market share is second only to Samsung with 26% marketshare in India. Karbonn has 13% market share in India.
