Oppo Launches New Smartphone In India, Foxconn To Manufacture A Part Of It

Smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Gionee, and OnePlus has got a new Chinese competitor—Oppo Electronics. The company has launched the new Oppp Neo 7 model India and plans to open up a manufacturing plant.

As a part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Oppo has unveiled the Neo 7 smartphone in the Indian market after it saw success in China. Oppo has also said that some of the handsets will be manufactured by Foxconn India. The Neo 7 will be a budget model priced at Rs 9,900.

After ensuring that the handsets pass certain quality tests, Oppo’s top management would think about putting up a manufacturing plant, reports The Cake.

“In India, we will produce 4G models alone. We are planning to put up a manufacturing plant by the end of 2016. No land has been acquired and we have not decided about the production capacity or the location,” said Kai Feng, Oppo, Vice-General Manager.
