You can now book meals on trains by sending a SMS to 139.
You just need to send meal details followed by PNR number. Once the SMS is received the PNR number will be verified for the particular train and the food will be delivered to your seat (it’s a cash-on-delivery system).
The SMS food service will be made operational on six trains in Delhi-Amritsar section from September 25 as a pilot project. The food will be served from the IRCTC Food Plazas or Catering Units at the Delhi-Amritsar section. [via]
