Partner Event: icreate – Technion Relationship [A Promising Platform for the Indian Start-Up Ecosystem]

icreate – International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology – is an ambitious initiative of Gujarat Foundation for Entrepreneurial Excellence setup in a PPP model with the Government of Gujarat. Its mission is to facilitate new age entrepreneurial pursuits of youth that focus on innovative applications for wealth generation, employment creation and global competition.

icreate’s Advisory Board consists of an eminent group of stalwarts and visionaries from the industry with Mr. N R Narayana Murthy (Chairman Emeritus, Infosys Ltd.) serving as the Chairperson of icreate Advisory Board. The other Advisory Board members are Dr. Sudarshan Maini (Founder, Maini group), Mr. Jyoti Sagar (Founding Partner, JSA), Mr. Tulsi Tanti (Chairman, Suzlon Energy), Mr. Uday Kotak (VCMD, Kotak Mahindra Bank), Mr. K. Venkataramanan (CEO & MD, L&T Limited), Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati (Columbia University), Mr. Harsh Mariwala (Chairman, Marico Limited), Mr. Dilip Shangvi (Chairman, Sun Pharma) and Dr. Harry Yuklea (Technion, Israel).

icreate has recently tied up with Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Technion is a science and technology research university, among the world’s top 10, and has played a lead role in shaping Israel as a ‘Start-Up Nation’. This MoU with Technion aims to benefit entrepreneurs, students, academia as well as the industry in India and Israel, by providing a platform that promotes entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.

icreate takes a step forward in its commitment to support, nurture and promote the ecosystem for aspiring entrepreneurs by further harnessing its ties with Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. The first initiative by icreate with Technion as a result of this MOU is here. A group of experienced professionals, entrepreneurs, VCs, and policy makers from Israel will visit Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi in the month of October. Icreate is providing an excellent opportunity to the students, entrepreneurs, early stage start-ups, managers, VCs, academicians, policy makers and other stake holders in ecosystem to interact with the delegation.

Israel is the nation which has been the most promising and dynamic in supporting the ecosystem for the start-ups. Israel is one of the leading nations in not just producing abundant start-up firms but also in having maximum number of start-ups listed on NASDAQ. The country also leads on aspects like technology exports and Venture capital fund flow.

icreate has organized open sessions for students, aspiring entrepreneurs and all other stakeholders of a start-up ecosystem to interact with a delegation led by Dr. Harry Yuklea, Advisor to Israeli National Economic Council, the Israeli Chief Scientist Office, the UNECE and to EUREKA (EU Industrial R&D Network), a serial entrepreneur, an academic researcher, a senior lecturer of Entrepreneurial Finance and Economics of Innovation at Technion, Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University. Dr. Yuklea will share the story behind the astounding rise of Israel as a Start-Up Nation. The centre will also organize paid seminars with Dr. Yuklea to share their experience in building hi-tech enterprises in Israel. The seminar will be an excellent opportunity for early-stage start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs, and incubation managers & incubatees, start-up mentors, investors, policy makers etc. to network and have one-on-one interaction with Dr. Harry Yuklea and other experts.
