Paytm Back on App Store With New Version, After “Critical Bug Fixes”

For a country, that is pushing towards a cashless economy, companies like Paytm offer, a real alternative to using cash or credit cards. But with over 170 million users on its platform, when Paytm disappeared without notice from Apple’s App Store, customers got a glimpse of how such an economy can fail them sometimes.

Users of Paytm app, couldn’t pay for their transactions Tuesday and Wednesday after the service suffered an outage, which the company said was due to some “technical” error. “We are facing some technical issues. We will have it resolved shortly so please try again after some time,” an automated message popped up on screen at the time of transactions.

Acknowledging the outage, the company later wrote on its official blog, that they found a bug in their iOS App, which they claimed to have fixed. The app is now back following a critical bug fix and with a new version (5.8.2). The company, however, did not provide the exact bug that led to the service disruption.

While the new app can be downloaded from the App Store, Paytm will also be pushing out notifications to users to update the app before making any transactions.
