Growth of Acqhires in India
Very recently, Times Internet’s Times City acquired Pune based app, Gawbl and the founder has joined the company to lead its mobile initiative. This is a commendable trend in the Indian startup ecosystem, wherein the biggies are realizing (and acknowledging) the innovation being done by startups.
Plustxt’s desi competitor, Hike had raised $7mn earlier and recently launched offline messaging. Japanese messaging app Line which took an aggressive consumer marketing route claims to have gained 5 million users from India.
