The makers of messaging app Plustxt, have raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Mumbai Angels and Amit Gupta, the co-founder of InMobi.
Amit Mittal, the vice president of Startup Business Group at Microsoft and angel investor Kishore Warrier have also invested in the company.
Pratyush Prasanna, the Founder of Plustxt said that future plans include tying up with phone manufacturers to pre install the app on new phones.
On the product front, Plustxt is coming up with the web version for web texting and client applications for S40 and Blackberry. The startup is also developing language specific smileys and emoticons.The app has more than 50,000 downloads on Playstore and has a high retention rate. “We have to work on adding new languages such as Urdu, local language keyboards and make the User Interface world class,” said Prasanna.
Plustxt * had launched (as claimed) the world’s first cross lingual messaging system (Indic language support). The app (available for iOS and Android) currently supports Gujarati Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi and Tamil; and also uses transliteration.
Developed in partnership with Reverie’s local language SDK (which was launched at UnPluggd), Plustxt also comes with privacy controls for you to decide if a picture or text can be copied, forwarded or saved. You can even text without disclosing your real phone number.
