The apex court has directed police in all Indian states and union territories to upload FIRs on official websites within 24 hours to protect the interests of the accused. The failure on part of the police to upload FIRs would not be taken advantage of by the accused to seek any relief, the SC said clarifying the decision.
SC, however, has extended the time up to 72 hours for states with poor internet connectivities. The order would come into effect from November 15.
