Online Language Translation Startup Process 9 Raises Funding Led By IAN Ventures

The company will cater to the growing need of local language content for apps and websites in India

The Internet is global, but it mostly speaks in just one language – English. With the population of Indians growing on the Internet, there’s a real need to generate content in local languages.

Process 9, a startup that offers online translation and transliteration from English to Indic via a cloud based API, has raised funding led by IAN Ventures.
The company’s service currently supports English to Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali translations.
The firm claims 99.5% of Indians pick an Indian language as their mother tongue, and only 7% list English as a second language.
Process 9 hopes to bring about a change in the Indian Internet and mobile industry, but translating websites and apps that are in English to local languages.
Alok Sharma, CEO of Nature Eco Ventures was among the leading investors in Process 9, which also included Kris Gopalakrishnan, Saurabh Srivastava, Ajai Chowdhry.
