Exclusive : US Based Quixey Acquires Dexetra, Makers of Friday And Iris App

US based Quixey, an app discovery service has acquired Dexetra, Bangalore based startup which is behind some of the famous apps like Friday and IRIS.dexetra
Dexetra rose to fame with the launch of IRIS app. voice recognition app for Android, which was launched a few days after Apple launched SIRI.
The company raised $1mn from Sequoia Capita, Qualcomm Ventures in Feb 2013 and had raised angel funding from One97 in 2011.
From what we know, this is more of an acquahire deal (rumors of Dexetra acquisition has been going around for some time, with ET wrongly mentioning NewsHunt acquiring them) and is part of Quixey‘s plans to setup its development center in India.
Quixey raised $50mn from Alibaba and others in 2013 and recently announced a deal with Alibaba to power search on Alibabab’s mobile operating system YunOS.
