The Bharatiya Janata Party’s supporters and bloggers have sought to petition Twitter India to revoke the appointment of head of news, politics and Government, Raheel Khursheed.
The petition signed by over 2,000 supporters on online petition site, change.org has demanded the removal of Khursheed on the basis of his alleged bias against the NDA and Narendra Modi.
Addressed to Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, the petition states that with the appointment of Mr.Khursheed, the platform would “lose all credibility.” With his taking over, the petitioners believe that Twitter will become a “manipulation tool in the hands of the ruling party.”
The petition also states that Kashmir-born Khursheed is a supporter of Kashmiri separatists and that he had “made fun of Hindus on multiple occasions.”
Khursheed was only recently appointed at Twitter, and used to be a journalist and communications director at Change.org himself previously. The petition still needs 300 signatures to be officially sent to the CEO.
