While there is lot of heated development going on in the Indian Railways Ministry, the online arm of organization is also under revamp. The much talked about new ticket reservation portal has started. The new railway ticket reservation system is hosted at indianrailways.gov.in.
Govt. claims to have taken steps to curb the nuisance going on with online ticket reservation. Agents seem to hoard tickets and use multiple logins that makes the system at IRCTC in-accessible almost everyday during morning hours. Govt. has banned agents from using the new site. New site allows a limited number of tickets per account and each account needs to be connected to a verified mobile number.
Indian Railways has also launched a mobile ticketing solution. The tickets booked through mobile application would be sent as an SMS, fancily referred to as Mobile Reservation Message. One can directly use this SMS along with a valid photo ID proof as a railway ticket. Like the current IRCTC site, the mobile booking would be available from 12.30AM to 11.30PM.
Do let us know your experience when you try the mobile reservation system from the Indian Railways.
