Amid criticism over the introduction of surge pricing in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains, Indian Railways has claimed that the passenger response to the initiative has been ‘positive’ so far, with over 50,000 tickets being booked since the roll out on September 9.
Railway Board Member Traffic Mohammad Jamshed said that 30% of the tickets booked in these premier trains were flexi-fare tickets, earning the Indian Railways Rs 1.6 crore of additional revenue on September 9 and 10.
