RBI Announces AI-Powered, Offline Transactions for UPI Users

  • RBI introduces ‘conversational payments’ on UPI, enabling users to carry out transactions via AI-backed conversations.
  • Offline payments on UPI will be enabled using NFC technology with the launch of the ‘UPI-Lite’ on-device wallet.
  • The transaction limit for small value digital payments offline has been increased from ₹200 to ₹500, though the overall limit remains ₹2000.
