The launch, which is in collaboration with RCom’s subsidiary Global Cloud Xchange (GCX), comprises a Content Delivery Network (CDN) of content caches around the edge of Reliance’s Indian network, connecting back to 9 state-of-the-art Tier III+ data centers in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
“The content caches, in turn, are seamlessly connected onward to our network of data centers situated in key hubs along the Emerging Markets Corridor, all interconnected by our wholly owned global subsea fiber network,” Bill Barney, CEO of RCOM Enterprise & GCX said.
‘Fast Edge’ is pitched to slash the distance for content to travel from “5,000 miles to 10 miles”, and because the infrastructure is built on Reliance’s local network, “any rapid exponential growth in the number of users concurrently accessing will not automatically lead to middle mile bandwidth issues”, said Braham Singh, SVP of Product Management, RCOM Enterprise and GCX, in a statement.
‘Fast Edge’ with Dynamic DNS (DDNS) also offers built-in protection and security in addition to maximizing the speed of content delivery. With Reliance’s Direct Internet Access (DIA) providing downstream access to 100% of India’s Internet users, it’s designed to optimize Content Delivery across India.
