Reliance Industries has announced that its telecom and digital services arm Reliance Jio is now present in nearly 18,000 cities and towns spread across all 29 states in India.
Reliance Jio will begin commercial operations by December this year and is currently running pre-launch testing and stabilization of its 4G LTE telecom network.
Apart from beta testing, Reliance Jio is also engaged in building its distribution network which will consist of 0.5 million connectivity outlets and an additional 1 million recharge outlets.
So far, the company has demonstrated lawful intercept and monitoring facilities for LTE data, voice, video and messaging services as per DoT directives.
Further, the company has also shown use of Aadhar-based e-KYC for use of issuing mobile connections and has participated in intra circle and inner circle MNP testing.
Reliance Jio at launch will have 75,000 eNodeB towers and 0.65mn sq-ft of data center capacity spread across 3 locations. Over the next three years that will grow to 1.5mn sq-ft of data center capacity.
When it comes to the 4G device push, Reliance Jio is tying up with major OEMs as well as component manufacturers, especially chipset companies.
