Reliance Jio Crosses 50 Million Subscribers. Achieves this Faster than Facebook, WhatsApp

Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Jio has crossed 50 million subscriber base in less than three months after launching its industry disrupting 4G services, to emerge as the largest broadband operator in the country. According to the company, this also makes Jio, the fastest telecom firm in the world to have achieved the landmark.

Jio has reportedly acquired 1,000 customers per minute (since September 05) and 6 lakh per day. In comparison, its nearest rival, and overall market leader Bharti Airtel had 41 million 3G and 4G customers, Vodafone had 201.90 million subscribers and Idea Cellular had 180.25 million users, as of September 30.

The company pointed out that, Jio achieved this feat faster than Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter, which took them between 42 months and 44 months to reach the 50 million-subscriber mark.
