Phulki, the Bollywood music aggregator (and we loved it from the day one) has been acquired by Saavn, joint venture of [212]MEDIA andsaavn music a Hungama Mobile.

Just like Guruji, Phulki indexes music/mp3 from around the web and has built a no-frills service that is a lot fun to use (than listening to the same music on the original website).

Over the last few months, I have been using Phulki regularly and always appreciated the neat experience the team has built (quite inspired by Goog, but the similarity ends there itself). Useful features like Lists, real time activity of site users were quite a hit.

Built by two IIT D guys, Phulki also launched an iPhone app around 1.5 years back.

A good move by Saavn media, as this acquisition will help them in distribution and content aggregation; though Phulki’s aggregation model is questionable (context: T-series lawsuit against Guruji for a similar play).
