Samsung mercilessly killed the hopes of those who were planning to buy the Galaxy Nexus device, but the good news is that Galaxy S3 will be launched in India in the first week of June.
Samsung claims that the device takes it inspiration from nature and thus has smooth curvaceous body unlike the square predecessor. Samsung TouchWiz interface is in full swing with look and feel of nature- like physical looks.
The Galaxy SIII runs on Ice Cream Sandwich aka Android 4.0, and boasts of a whooping 4.8-inch (12.19-cm) Super AMOLED HD display. In fact it resembles its counterpart Nexus in many ways including the home screen buttons. It is sardonic that Samsung is the foremost supplier of retina display to Apple because it hasn’t used any of it in the SIII. It has the Samsung patented PenTile display thus despite 306ppi it’s not as sharp as iPhone due to the pixel sharing capabilities of this technology. Galaxy Nexus has 316ppi whereas the iPhone has 326ppi.
The Galaxy SIII has a swanky 8 megapixel back camera and a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera that allows users to click the best shots with zero lag time. And if company claims are considered true its voice assistant, S Voice appears to be at par with Apple’s Siri and may even beat the latter in due course of time. Apart from its features of allowing information search and basic device-user communication, it brings in powerful functions in regards to device control and commands. It can play your favorite songs, turn the volume up or down, send text messages and emails, organize your schedules, or automatically launch the camera and capture a photo.
The Galaxy SIII runs on a 1.4 GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos 4412 SoC processor making it one of the most powerful smartphones available today. Playing HD games will be a breeze on this phone. The device makes use and leaps the benefit of Android Beam via which users can transfer 1GB data/ movie in less than 3 minutes, and about 10MB music file in within 2 seconds. And you don’t need any Wi-Fi or 3G to do that, just touch the two phones and Android Beam will take care of the rest. With a body of 8.6mm and apart from the chipset the phone works on 1GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage, a 2100 mAh battery, and radios for Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and NFC connectivity. What’s more this time Samsung has been innovative and launched the phone in blue and white. No black this time!!!
Galaxy S III price in India is Rs. 43,180*, which is just 1,000/ cheaper than iPhone 4S price in India (Rs. 44,000+) – so decide for yourself.
More as we get to play with the device.
* : Though the price of Samsung SII in India, as per the company announcement is Rs. 43,180 – expect the retailer price to be much lower (sites like BuythePrice, Flipkart and Saholic announced price to be in the range of RS. 38,900/]
