Samsung has announced that developers will have early access to the SDK for its upcoming smartwatch, teasing the biggest hardware changes for the device in the process.

The most striking feature is Samsung’s move to a round watch face, which is in line with rumours suggesting the launch of a circular Galaxy Gear device to take on the likes of the Apple Watch.
Moving from a rectangular to a circular watch face does explain why Samsung will open up the SDK to developers early, giving them enough time to build their apps suited to the new device.
Apart from teasing a large weather-themed app, Samsung also teased a few partner apps such as CNN, Yelp, Baidu, FidMe and Apposter.
To get their hands on their the SDK, developers can head here and need to sign up with Samsung. The company hasn’t hinted when the new circular Galaxy smartwatch could be unveiled.
