Saregama has launched a music app aimed at audiences listening to classical and Hindustani music. Saregama has a portfolio of over 8000 songs, 400+ artists, and 50 radio stations across classical music genres.
The app is available for download in iTunes and Google Play and shall feature Hindustani, Classical, and Carnatic Fusion music. It has a simple user interface where each major content category is further divided into Vocal, Instrumental or by Raaga.
The app also has a portfolio of tracks that features 14 instruments such as Violin, Veena, Mandolin, Mridangam, Tabla, Guitar, Sarangi, Flute, Nadaswaram, Sitar and Shehnai.
Additionally, it also has unique commentary by musicologists, aficionados and specialists along with anecdotes, information on Raagas, and biographical bites.
“Research shows, with the decline of the CDs, ardent classical music lovers in India and across the globe find it difficult to discover and consume music of their favorite artistes. Hence we decided to launch this unique app both for the music connoisseurs as well as those who want to get exposed to the Classical music,” says Vikram Mehra Managing Director, Saregama.
