Buyhatke Wants You to Save Money While Shopping Online With It’s New Chrome Extension

Comparison shopping site Buyhatke has re-launched a neat chrome extension that helps you find the cheapest prices for items that you are looking to buy. The extension gives you prices from over 45 Indian e-commerce sites.

After you install the extension to your Chrome browser, it sits tight until you get to a product page on a shopping site. When you land up on a product page, it gives you a button to compare prices of the product across websites.

If you don’t want to leave the page, you can click on the extension on the top right of the page and a list of prices pop up. It also automatically compares prices and informs you if the product is being sold at a lesser price elsewhere.

Chrome extensions for price comparison is a neat concept that has become vogue recently. This saves users the trouble of going to a site to compare prices and increases your chances of discovering a better price on an item.Prce Comparison Buyhatke

The company, founded by IIT- Kharagpur graduates, has a 3 member team. Buyhatke currently receives over 500,000 unique visits, says Gaurav Dahake, the Founder & CEO of Buyhatke.

We found the extension quite useful and snappy. However, it sometimes gets confused between products. For example, when we were on Flipkart looking for a Seagate 1 TB hard drive, it suggested that the same product is available for cheaper on the site. On closer look, it turned out that the cheaper price was for a 500 GB drive by the same manufacturer. Buyhatke Price Comparison

It might be a good idea to carefully filter data from sites like eBay that also sell second hand goods.

There are dozens of comparison shopping services that have come up in India as e-commerce picks up. For e-commerce companies, coupons and comparison shopping sites bring down cost of acquiring a customer. However, it also puts pricing pressure on items. According to comScore’s latest report on India, comparison shopping is one of the fastest growing web categories in the country.

Earlier this year, we’d covered a MakkhiChoose, a Chrome plugin that does similar things.   Sites like Reviews 42, PriceDekho,, MysmartPrice, FindYogi, online services like PriceBaba and Purplista also offers product discovery and comparison features.
