Shaadi has partnered with Zee’s DTH service for “Shaadi Active'”, a subscription based service that will enable marriage prospects/their parents to search for eligible bride / groom of their choice – right from their tv screens.[source]
Next in the Portal-DTH partnership list – Job portals?
The partnership is a good example of app distribution and most of the transactional portals are exploring newer ways to acquire audience – this also talks of the limited Internet audience that we have!
Quick look at the current scenario:
- OTAs are planning to enter into offline space (ClearTrip already did that)
- Both Shaadi and Jeevansathi have set up offline stores
- Naukri already has an offline presence (Quadrangle)
That goes on to a basic question – Is Internet in India really big enough? Or there is a glass ceiling attached to it?
