Shopcorn(www.shopcorn.in), India’s first social shopping community portal, has recently initiated a bloggers’ contest for creating awareness in the Indian markets. Participation for the same is through a portal named www.peppysophia.com, where a virtual character named Sophia would be guiding users through the series of steps they need to follow in order to participate in the contest and be eligible for the prizes.
Vishwalok Nath, Co-Founder and Business Development Head, Shopcorn, stated that the contest was an apt medium for entering the Indian online market. In his own words, “Blogging is clearly one of the most popular activities for all age groups alike today, thanks to the fantastic pace at which the internet has expanded in the country. Further, since ShopCorn is all about giving shoppers across the country a platform to interact among themselves and find the best deals, blogging was the most appropriate way to create brand-awareness.”
While he was tight-lipped about more details of the portal, since it was “the suspense element that was the main driving force behind the campaign”, he did reveal that Shopcorn is “a sea change from the
run-of-the-mill shopping portals Indian users have today”, and is a place where the fun and interactive element of offline shopping would meet the convenience of its online counterpart. Further, there are attractive watches also to be won everyday by user who tweet about the contest on twitter.com.
