Retail chain Shoppers Stop has announced that it will sell clothes footwear and fashion accessories on online marketplace Snapdeal in all north Indian cities.
To kick things off, Shoppers Stop will sell in Ludhiana, Delhi, Lucknow, Noida, Meerut, etc. The online store will go live by Diwali and the company plans to expand to all 35 North Indian cities it has an offline presence in within one year.
Shoppers Stop currently sells some of its private label brands on Flipkart, Amazon and a few other fashion discovery portals. The partnership will help the company boost its omni-channel retail strategy as it looks to boost online sales from 1% to 10%.
Snapdeal will assist Shoppers Stop with delivery, payments and logistics with products bought online being shipped out of its local stores. Further, online buyers will also be able to return and exchange products at any of the 74 stores the company has across the 35 cities.
Deals such as this serve as signs that both offline and online retail can co-exist, with consumers preferring variety on online marketplaces. Snapdeal is currently working on tying up more such offline retailers and is working on a model around this.
