The local stores covered by the app include those in Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Jaipur.

The portal plans to add local stores from new cities including tier 2 and tier 3 cities in the future.

Pune based Scandid, founded by Madhur Khandelwal and Sushil Choudhari, had raised angel funding from Sandeep Johri and other angel investors based out of Silicon Valley and New York in 2013.

Time To Go Beyond SEO

Most price comparison engines rely heavily on SEO for discovery and to generate advertising revenue. Price comparison portals need to go beyond this and help customers choose products which are useful for them and in turn be a part of the buying process. Needless to say, simple couponing and price comparison is a cluttered space.

One feature Scandid has got right is the offering of coupons currently available for various products. In the past many comparison services forgot to see beyond pricing, as a lot of the e-commerce portals also run short term coupons on the devices which are not immediately shown on the device prices listed.
