Sifi, Excitel And Other Indian ISPs Have Teamed With Torrent Sites to Speed Up Downloading?

This might come as a shocker, but some ISP providers in India like, Alliance Broadband, Excitel, Sifi Broadband, Syscon Infoway and True Broadband, have reportedly partnered with torrent search engine Torbox, to link users to peers in the local network, which makes downloading files from torrents sites faster, than what their regular Internet connection allows.

Downloading large data places a heavy load on internet providers, but instead of penalising/blocking such users, these ISPs have found a viable solution to keep both their subscribers and themselves happy by teaming up with search engines, which show results of searched files, based on the proximity of other users who have the files you’re looking for.

The question, however, is how long will these providers continue their shoddy practice, as downloading torrents files, comes under intense scrutiny in the country.

However, most of the Internet users are “Shoppers” (Search Travel & Non-Travel products online), and this proportion has remained around 75% to 80% of total Internet users in India.
