Sify Chairman Raju Vegesna Wins the ICC Auctioned Match Ball of the World Cup Finals

Mr. Raju Vegesna, Chairman and Managing Director, Sify Technologies Limited (NASDAQ: SIFY), has won the ICC auctioned Official Match Ball from the India vs. Srilanka final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Bidding in his personal capacity, he emerged victorious at $145, 100.

Based in the Unites States of America, Mr. Vegesna was in Chennai for the Annual Sify Conference which happened to be on the same day as the finals. To encourage the World Cup spirit, Mr. Vegesna arranged for the screening of the match on a giant screen at the 5-star hotel which was the venue of the conference. Mr. Vegesna celebrated India’s winning moment with his entire team comprising over 500 Sify-ites.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raju Vegesna, Chairman and Managing Director, Sify Technologies, said, “At the annual sales conference, I shared my focus for Sify on the 3C’s – CHALLENGE, COLLABORATE, and CONQUER. We can learn much by looking at the example that Team India set. Team India taught us how to stand up to the CHALLENGE of global competition; to COLLABORATE as no one player dominated the play and they reminded us of what it takes to CONQUER the world’s best competitors. To me, this Match Ball is a symbol of EXCELLENCE. It represents everything that we can be, and everything that we must aspire to be.

So as a dedication to all the Sify employees, I wanted to win the very same ball as a memento to remind them all of everything they are capable of – as individuals, as a company, and as a country.”
Born in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Vegesna is an acclaimed serial entrepreneur in the Silicon Valley. On the sidelines, he is also a collector of such rare memorabilia. Other things among his collection are a boxing glove of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, guitars of Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney and the ball used in 49ers’ Superbowl Championship win in American Football.”
