Microsoft’s Office 365 UI Update Brings Skype For Business Integration

Microsoft has integrated Skype for Business into its Office 365 productivity suite for the web to allow users to make calls and chat with colleagues more easily.


The company has announced several UI changes to be rolled out over the next couple of months, and prime among them will be a new notifications pane. This pane which rolls out from the right corner will display system alerts, personal reminders and alerts for new emails.

Users will be able to start instant message and voice/video conversations from inside Outlook, OneDrive or the calendar app, without leaving the window. They’ll can do so by simply hitting the Skype for Business icon on the top right corner of the screen.

Similarly, Microsoft has made it possible to change the settings of each Office 365 app without leaving the work window by clicking on the new gear icon. These updates will be rolling out to First Release users over the next few weeks and to Office 365 Business users over the next few months.
