Group Buying Site SnapDeal Buys Bangalore Based Grabbon

Group buying startups are the buzz of the season with one more launching every week. Meanwhile, a lot is going on in the background between the founders of these nascent startups and some talks are even taking shape. Continuing on that trend Jasper Infotech, the company behind SnapDeal, has acquired Bangalore based Grabbon (earlier coverage). The deal is a cash+equity transaction. The exact size of the deal is unknown as of now.

Grabbon LogoGrabbon’s offering are only available in Bangalore and the site seems to be having around 4000-5000 daily visitors. At times they have claimed to sell 300+ coupons for a deal.

Unlike other group buying startups which are less than an year old, SnapDeal comes with an existing relationship with retailers from their earlier venture of MoneySaver and also alot of insight on the user behavior when it comes to deals and coupons.

Meanwhile, the much talked about Taggle has launched in Bangalore and the deals do not look very tempting. Wanamo changed its avatar to DealsAndYou last week after being acquired by the FashionAndYou promoters.

Expect a lot more in this space.
