Solar Marketplace MYSUN Raises $2.5 Million in Funding

MYSUN, a recently launched tech marketplace to connect consumers & solar installers for solar panel installation, has received an initial funding of $ 2.5 million from General Catalyst Partners, an American venture capital firm focused on early-stage and growth investments.

As part of the deal, Hemant Taneja, Managing Director at General Catalyst Partners has joined the board of MYSUN. Hemant is also a co-founder and Chairman of Advanced Energy Economy and board member of Khan Academy.

The funds raised will help the company to scale up business and invest further into technology and infrastructure, Gagan Vermani, Founder & CEO, MYSUN said.

Started in September 2015 by Gagan Vermani, Divyanshu Sachdev, and Gyan Prakash Tiwari, MYSUN aims to change the way solar is perceived, bought and sold in India. Its online marketplace connects consumers to pre-screened solar installers to deliver solar systems, who according to the company adhere to strict quality standards prescribed by MYSUN.

MYSUN also offers a solar calculator, which determines the potential savings customers can make when they go solar.
