Sony has announced that it is launching a new business – Aerosense – which will deal in supply of images and other data captured by drones to businesses.
Aerosense is a joint venture between Sony and Japanese robotics and automation company ZMP, which is developing self-driving technology for land-based vehicles.
The firm won’t sell drones but will use them to capture images which will be analyzed on the cloud and will provide range of services such as measuring, surveying, observation and inspection.
A number of industries would benefit from the services a drone in the skies can provide, including construction, town planning, etc.
Aerosense isn’t the only company thinking on these lines. Recently, drone maker DJI opened a platform to allow third-parties build services beneficial to businesses that used its drones.
