Saudi Arabia has become the first country to grant citizenship to a robot.
Sophia, the humanoid was created by David Hanson for Hong Kong company Hanson Robotics. Hanson is known for making human-like robots.

“I am very honored and proud for this unique distinction,” Sophia said in an interview with moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin. “This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship.”

Bots: A threat to human beings or is Elon Musk scaring us?

On being asked whether bots are a threat to human beings, Sophia replied as:

“You’ve been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies. Don’t worry, if you’re nice to me, I’ll be nice to you.”

*If you are nice to me”. Hmm..so even she has conditions.
Anyways, we will wait to see if Sophia gets to drive cars as well?
By the way, Elon Musk has a suggestion for Sophia.
