Online video streaming portal Spuul has launched an ‘offline sync’ functionality to their Android app. With this newly added feature, premium subscribers can watch Spuul content offline.
Users can now sync multiple movies for offline viewing on the Android app. The new features comes with an adoption to only sync content over a Wi-Fi connection, this will help them conserve their mobile data bandwidth.
To prevent piracy Spuul allows subscribers 72 hours to watch the offline synced content, before they must reconnect to verify their account and offline content.
“In India and emerging markets, a stable data connection is never a guarantee. We wanted to offer our users the ultimate convenience of watching content without an Internet connection, while giving our content partners a powerful tool to combat piracy”, says Mr. Subin Subaiah, CEO of Spuul.
Spuul was founded by Sudesh Iyer, founder of Sony Entertainment TV in India, and S. Mohan, founder of Palo Alto-based Accellion.
Last month Spuul partnered with Star TV to stream shows that come on the television channel 30 minutes after they are aired in India. With this partnership Spuul users in Pakistan and India will have access to Star Plus’ content including daily soaps like Diya Aur Bati Hum, Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi – Meri Bhabhi and Pyaar Ka Dard Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara and reality show Junior Master Chef among others.
