Online video streaming portal Spuul has partnered with Star TV to stream shows that come on the television channel 30 minutes after they are aired in India.
Spuul’s users in Pakistan and India will have access to Star Plus’ content including daily soaps like Diya Aur Bati Hum, Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi – Meri Bhabhi and Pyaar Ka Dard Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara and reality show Junior Master Chef among others.
Founded in 2010 in Singapore, Spuul offers Bollywood movies and T.V shows to viewers all around the world. It has monthly subscription plans and pay-per-view options along with a free plan which includes only selected movies. The service is available on web, mobile (Android and iOS) and through Facebook app.
All the plans have advertisements included, thus it has an ad supported business model along with subscription.
Back in May 2013, Spuul signed an agreement with IndiaCast Media Distribution (a joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18) for streaming over 60 current and upcoming movies from Hindi and Regional languages.
Earlier this year, Google started YouTube Rentals, a pay-per-view model in India. Also it has introduced paid subscription for selected channels. Box T.V, Eros Now, BIGFLIX are some of the players in Indian market offering online video content.
iStream, was another similar Indian service that offered videos on demand and had paid subscription model. The company which crossed 6 million unique users and over 12 million video views in March, shut its services in May this year as it ran out of cash.
