Passengers travelling from Mumbai Central railway station will be able to use Google’s wifi service, starting from today. Allahabad, Patna, Jaipur and Ranchi will follow shortly.
Google had earlier tied up with RailTel Corp to provide wifi connectivity across 407 stations. The deadline set by Pichai was January for the first railway station. During his vist to India, he also added that by the end of 2016, more than 100 stations will be covered.
To ensure that passengers receive high speed connection, RailTel’s fibre optic network has been used.
The first hour of the service will be free but then the speeds will be limited to give equal access to all passengers.
