We have been through all these emotions during the last 15 days.
To those who were sleeping under a rock, well - we moved away from the media avatar to a pure community play. A platform that brings together India's amazing founders and geeks together.
So what happened in the last 15 days ?
Well, to give you a quick idea of the metrics -> the average time spent on the site is close to 5.4 minutes and bounce rate is close to 40%, lowest we have ever seen.
But then, these are numbers and will change over a period of time.
What did we actually learn ?
Speed Vs. Control
You can always crash (which is fine if that's the goal), but being in control and running at a speed which you want to is closer to nirvana. Great businesses aren't about short term wins. Maintaining a balance between speed and control is the winning formula.
We are now poised to take on the world !
Marketing is overrated. Mission Matters.
Except for announcement thread, we haven't sent a single email / ran any campaign announcing our new avatar. Beyond the first day buzz, we have gone stronger each day!
And the only reason I can attribute to this is the fact that people believe in our mission and they continue to push us to evolve the platform.
Great communities are not about numbers (i.e. how many).
It's more about 'who is here and what is being discussed'. Communities are formed when the platform provides an equal opportunity to all, irrespective of whether you are a celebrity or a rookie.
We are witnessing some of the most amazing and candid discussions - it's something which the ecosystem has never witnessed in the past (e.g. VSS' comment on equity vs. delayed payment). For us, this is just the beginning.
Our mission is to build India's most amazing community of founders and DOERs.
Keeping main thing the main thing.
We have changed the way we cover funding news/updates. We start a weekly thread, keep updating it; put every piece of data in Google sheet and boom! you are updated about all funding news in no time. Funding is a milestone, but the ecosystem treats it with a huge fanfare. We disagree.
Similarly, we are changing the way we cover news. In fact, quite a few of the community members didn't like how news was interrupting the conversation flow - and we have decided to tone down news coverage (unless it's a big deal).
We decided to flow with the community - prioritized platform features based on what you asked for.
What Lies Ahead?
Well, we will get a little more structured. New categories/sub-cats will be introduced.
We are relaunching Pluggd.in
As a product discovery platform. Starting Monday, you will discover 2 great products/startups every day! A mix of Indian and global startups- curated by us.
For us, this is a huge change and we have only this to tell you:
Thank you for all your support and love! Our mission is to bring amazing founders, investors and geeks together on the platform and we will.
