According to to the latest reports, Apple may remove the 3.5mm headphone port and mostly replace it with Bluetooth or Lightning headphones in the upcoming iPhone 7.
Apple has a history of killing industry standards starting from the floppy disk, CD drive, the 30-pin connector, and now the latest being the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Four years ago, the 30-pin connector was ditched for Lightning connector in a move to make the Apple devices thinner.
Currently, The headphone jack is the widest external port on the iPhone, and it can't get any thinner.
So is this feature kill a move by Apple to make their devices thinner in their quest for minimalism or is it a smart business move to bring in a new line of products and increase sales of Apple-owned Beats?
