The Bangalore IT professionals are approaching the labor ministry and IT ministry for help over layoffs.
"The group submitted two petitions to Labour Commissioner RR Jannu and raised their concerns regarding, what they deem as "illegal terminations" by IT majors." (source)
"The Karnataka government has assured members of a united front of IT employees associations to look into their problems, including layoffs. " (via)
The IT employees are known to receive a very high salary, which is most of the cases doesn't even justifies their skills, but thanks to $-Rs gap, companies are able to hand over a handsome sum.
Shouldn't govt get involved then and start a 'standard salary' system? Why involve government NOW when you didn't involve them earlier (in setting up a standard payment structure that will be ~25% of what one was getting).
Why is everyone so scared of the very fundamental behind the capitalism? The very fundamental (i.e. greed) that has gotten people here? Or are IT employees scared of being questioned over skills and actually showing their worth?
Why are we taking companies for a ransom? The core of Indian IT industry is around $->Rs gap and now that it is diminishing, workers will face the heat. How many IT employees are learning anything new except managing internal processes?
