I run a small rstaurant in west delhi and have tied up with various FOPs (food ordering platforms). As you must be aware how it work with FOPs. First customer places an order with any of the FOP and then its passed on to the concerned restaurant. Restaurant gets a fixed time (few minutes) to prepare the order and then FOP's deliver executive come to pic the same (in most cases delivery is done by FOP, however in some cases restaurant does it). Now due to various reason (in most cases customer's vulnerability) an order may get cancelled. Now if the order has already been prepared, i.e. order was cancelled afer XX minutes then it becomes FOPs order (whether they pay fully or partially or not at all to the restaurant thats a diifferent topic's issue which I will discuss later). Now what happens to this order which is been picked up by the FOP's delivery executive?
Nobody will tell you the truth but the sad truth is that the food is thrown away in the dustbin. Now a country where you find hungry people all around you how bad is that? Can't these companies allow its delivery executive to give this food to someone in need? Or allow the executive to have it themselve which again will save the food indirectly (as then the executive wont have food outside which is again a saving of food)?
Not only that, there are many people who want to feed the needy but they dont know the right platform. Even some restaurant (including ourselve) are ready to have special food items at cheaper rate for those who want to donate. I was just wondering cant these FOPs come forward to take some initiative? Wont it be a great idea and great feeling overall if we can bring smile on few faces everyday? I am asking only FOPs as they are already in food distributing business and its rather easy for them than anynother industry to do this job.
We have recently celebrated our 70th freedom anniversary but real freedom will come only when our mind will be open to help the needy. Lets not just sell the food, give it to the one who need it most.
