I was looking at Google Play Store Top Charts, and I noticed that a bunch of apps that I use, which used to be there, have disappeared. They are the apps that allow you to earn credit for doing activities - TaskBucks, Ladoo, Pokkt, Earn Talktime, MCent. There used to be 2 or 3 of them in the top 100 apps in India, and now, they are all missing.
I looked for news online on this topic, and I can't find any. I'm guessing Google has removed them from their top charts listing?
This seems like a very unfair and non-consumer friendly decision by Google. These apps are very popular amongst a lot of people and I know a lot of app developers use them to share their new products with consumers. I wonder if Google doesn't want competitors for app advertising revenues, so it removes them from the store!
That seems like a big competition issue and an abuse of power. These apps aren't illegal, and consumers really like them. Just because Google owns the Play Store, it should not only allow the apps which don't compete with their advertising business. I don't think Google can say "Do no evil" anymore.
