Compared to developed nations, buying or renting IT/computing infrastructure is still expensive in India. Cost of webhosting, bandwidth, server farms and custom development is still high for small businesses or individuals who want to bootstrap or test hypothesis for a business model.
I am noticing some developments which might drastically reduce barriers.
What if normal web/app development, building databases and business logic is accomplished in a codeless way? Eve-Lang, MIT object spreadsheet and AI enabled design tools points to this direction.
Developers should be employed for crating novel architectures and solving hard problems not run of the mill web/app dev, database management and business logic dev for ERP/CRM/SCM/PLM.
Another development is about blockchain. A common blockchain or what's called as internet of chain with standard APIs can be core of highly distributed business platform for ERP/CRM/SCM/PLM. Add codeless development of business logic, web/app dev and datastores.
Blockchain based platforms like Colony, Fermat and Balanc3.
Cognitive stack consisting of AI/ML, VR/AR, blockchain, IoT and robotics should not be dominated by few silicon valley giants.
Now, about physical infrastructure. I have some ideas which may seem ridiculous. In my opinion, barriers to IT infrastructure will not reduce till cost of developing and making hardware is not reduced and fabrication is not local.
Exciting developments like RISC-V, Opencompute, Telecom Infrastructure Project and IPFS change perspective on what's possible when barriers are reduced.
Now if domestic, small scale nanofabs are developed using techs such as new kind of manufacturing, then barriers will further be reduced. Basically, I want to see nanofabs similar to 3d printing facilities, steel welders, injection molding shops or small power loom units.
This may seem ridiculous, but I think is possible.
Finally, my personal business idea is about Product Information Management (PIM) on blockchain platform for e-commerce, as a market network , but would like see barriers reduced drastically.
