Some key takeaways from his talk are as follows:
Early stage startups ‘have to’ focus on creating a product which sells itself!
Keep creating some great features and keep experimenting!
To understand the market, you’ll have to keep learning from your mistakes.
Don’t rush into marketing your product. Flipkart had it’s first TV campaign after 40-45 months after launching their service.
Funding starvation leads to a lot more innovation and focus on product.
Keep the team small and lean- hire only rockstars!
Less money would mean almost no marketing budget until the product itself starts going viral.
Don’t look to raise a lot of money. Use all of the money on just finding the right product market fit!
If you have a brilliant product, you don’t need coupons
Don’t start a business for entire India. Win one city and replicate the same model across different cities!
Focus on limited geography. The density of positive word of mouth drives network traffic.
Be open to meaningful partnerships with larger companies!
