Paytm is seeking to attract people in India to use the new messaging service embedded in its app, which many already use to buy everything from food to plane tickets.
Paytm’s messaging service will allow users to send audio, video and pictures and texts, the source, who declined to be named, said.
And why does Paytm needs to launch messaging?
Because messaging is the new OS and given that Google and WhatsApp are launching their UPI integration, Paytm needs to launch a messaging app so that it can embed payments?

What's your take? Paytm will surely feel the heat once Google and WhatsApp launch their UPI integration - but is messaging app the only way to go? Of course, they need to take on Hike Wallet as well..but messaging app? Really?

What would Paytm stand for ? Conversational platform or Transactional ? By being unclear, they might be on their way to irrelevancy.
